Hero's Chronicles

Psssst.. Samwise Gamgee here. Now, you must be wondering what a Hobbit like me is doing out of the Shire. Well, er, I’ll explain. This all began a few years after the whole “destroy-the-ring-in-Mordor” issue. Everybody thanked Frodo Baggins for destroying the ring and blah, blah, blah. Yeah. Well, did anybody bother to thank ol’ Samwise? No. Did anyone tell me “Oh thanks, Samwise!” or “Congratulations, Samwise!” No. See, if it wasn’t for me, Frodo wouldn’t have destroyed that cursed ring in the first place. We’d be stuck in something-thousand years of darkness. So, I thought “Why not go on a quest where I’m the hero?” And so, I did. Even changed my name to Wisesam Maggee in case anyone followed me. Clever, huh? Then, on one fateful morning, while I was smoking some pipe-weed under a tree, I heard a voice that awfully sounded a lot like my mum’s, whispering my name—my real name. I frantically looked around to see if anyone followed me only to find nothing. I decided to return to my business when suddenly the voice spoke again. It said “Samwise Gamgee, you have proven yourself worthy to be a hero.” I was so shocked that I almost dropped my pipe. “Who’s there?” I replied. And the voice said, “I will only reveal my true self if,” then she paused, as if for dramatic effect “you do me a favor.” So now I’m here, on a quest for greatness to prove myself worthy for some high being that I thought for sure was my mum. I actually still can’t believe that I’m here. Take that Mr. Frodo! This was for telling me to go home in the middle of that quest we took a few years ago. I’ll finally be a hero! You’ll see.
