Liir: A Beginning
Liir’s life began as most heroes’ do, in a temple, hung over and confused. He figured he partied too hard; but search as he might, he was without memory of what had actually transpired the night before. A moment more, he realized he couldn’t remember anything about his past. He struggled, but a hollowness this thought created paralyzed him. “Without a past, do I have a purpose?”, he pondered. “Our present is built upon our past decisions, our past actions. If I can’t remember what I did in the past, how can I know what to do now? C’mon Liir! Think!” His stream of thought has been broken upon realizing he knew his own name. He had been referring to himself as Liir. It wasn’t a very fashionable name, he admitted, but it is his name. Although a name doesn’t make a man or give a man’s life meaning, it was certainly a start.
Liir surveyed his surroundings. It appeared that he was in a temple filled with statues that honored a deity named Mused. Unimpressed and realizing he had ignored his primal needs, Liir stood. He was hungry and the seemingly random statue of a deity named Mused offered no gratification in this area. He paced forward in hopes of finding fruit on a nearby tree, but instead he was met with a lightning bolt, which knocked him to the ground.
Liir regained consciousness with four monks standing before him. The four monks said, “It is best to start with the glorification of the Lord through undertakings. You are created for Mused so you must quest and devote yourself to him. He demands that you steal candy from a baby!”
Liir’s subsequent quests were equally ridiculous.
Harvest Moon
For four years, Liir was a member of an obscure guild with limited resources. He grew to know each member and was welcomed without prejudice. It was a typical Friday just before he was about to embark upon a new quest when Mused’s voice echoed from above “Join ‘Harvest Moon’ guild.” Knowing he will be severely punished if he disobeyed, Liir decided to abandon his guild and current quest to follow his Lord’s orders.
It took three days and two nights before Liir finally met someone from Harvest Moon who will grant him membership. His initiation was showered with lightning from multiple Gods and a virgin sacrifice. Liir had become a member of the most evil guild in Godville!
Work in progress…
Random Notes
On June 16, 2012, 19:05 US Pacific time, Guild mate Damienpoe, championed by The420Bob graciously offered to help my hero revive his pet, a level 17 Biowolf, named Baloo.
Results: 07:24 Notes from the arena: The420Bob is unconscious. Liir successfully fulfilled the goal of praising his deity! The winner got richer by 6160 gold coins and a golden brick. 08:07 Desperately praying and sacrificing, I made a small miracle and resurrected my pet. Baloo, I’m so glad to see you!
Much appreciated, Damienpoe. I will definitely pay it forward!
Harvest Moon’s Summer ’12 AFK Sparring Tournament – 2nd place champion!
July 9, 2012 Threw an arena fight against Sniper404 so his hero may revive his level 22 trojan horse, Nibbler. Sniper404 is easily one of the most valued members of Harvest Moon. In his past, he has helped countless heroes build temples and revive their pets. My progress in the Gladiator pantheon and Invincibility Rank 1 can wait. A friend and guild mate needed help.
July 13, 2012 Achieved Invincible 1st Rank.
July 19, 2012 Promoted to Distinguished Member of Harvest Moon and given the title Daydreamer of the Moon. The promotion was unexpected, but much appreciated. Thank you! I will continue to do what I’ve been doing.
