Hero's Chronicles

The Chronicles of Frost Swordsman

The windows of the temple were frozen over with thick ice, and inside, the chilly air was filled with thick, white steam. Upon the altar, a beautiful dragon with scales of light blue crystal lounged lazily, its long and sinuous neck curled around to face the young hero who knelt before the fearsome form. Frost Swordsman had developed a rather high tolerance for the cold after his many meetings with this, his god, but even he was shivering at this temperature; Cryzm’s futile attempt to force the hero to leave him alone did not seem to be working as well as he had imagined it would…at this rate, the idiot would freeze to death on the spot.

Although the thought of a hero-cicle did sound delicious, admittedly.

“P-p-please?” Frost Swordsman stuttered, continuing on with the same kind of begging he had been at for the better part of the last hour.

Out of irritation— partly over being woken up by the young hero, but mostly over his refusal to go away— Cryzm snapped, “No. Now, leave me alone and go do a quest or something.” He punctuated that with a huff of thick, white, subzero steam directly into the hero’s face.

Even that did not seem to deter the fool at all. Instead, he whined, “C-c-come on. W-why n-not?”

Despite himself, Cryzm gave a dejected sigh. This made at least the dozenth time Frost had come to beg him to make an article in the godwiki for his chronicles. My Chronicles are too small! He had pouted, showing Cryzm the nearly-illegible chicken scratch that he had written. Cryzm had to admit that it was quite impressive that the hero had managed to run out of space to write, and while he was all-for Frost’s hobby, he hated the thought of spending the time and energy trying to figure out all the technicalities that went into making a godwiki. Naturally, he would never admit that reason to Frost.

“J-just look,” Frost said, pulling out his notebook to show Cryzm once again. “I h-have so m-much to write about! Remember that t-t-time I went to the moon?”

“Frost,” Cryzm said slowly, “you have never gone to the moon.”

“B-but I c-c-could write about going to the moon!” He shot back, tears starting to leak from the corners of his eyes. Cryzm rolled his own as he saw those tears freeze into ice droplets as they fell to the frosted-over floor of the temple.

I can’t watch this anymore, Cryzm thought to himself. In a defeated tone, he told his champion, “Fine, I’ll do it. Just…stop blubbering already. Come on, your eyes will freeze if you keep it up…” When Frost gave no indication that he had heard, Cryzm roared, “STOP CRYING, YOU BIG BABY!”

The roar was powerful enough to shake the entirety of the temple, and chunks of ice rained down upon them both as a result. Luckily, it also seemed to shock the hero into a response. “Y-you really mean it?” He asked, donning a smile large enough to nearly split his face in two.

“Yes…” Cryzm growled in disgust, less at the thought of figuring out the godwiki and more at having given in to the hero’s demands. “Now, leave me alone so that I can at least have some peace and quiet!”

“A-aye aye!” Frost said, saluting emphatically. However, he frowned when he visibly tried— and failed— to rise. With an unreadable expression, he said listlessly, almost as though he did not quite understand what was happening, “Almighty, my l-legs seem to be frozen to the floor…”

…And that is how Frost Swordsman convinced his god, Cryzm, to move his Chronicles to the godwiki.
