The Story of Being

A young man lay on the ground bare and there he awoke hearing “his” voice. The man awoke and stretched and scratched himself where he glimpsed in awe as he look around and see a landscape of moving color, where he saw small rivers and large trees swaying and slowly dissolving in the surrounding air that sparkled of yellow and gold. “The air had a soft feel to it” he thought. The man looked behind him to see the gigantic yellow tree from which he had awoken and which was surprisingly soft.

“Where am I..” the man muttered to himself. “It appears you’re in a bit of a Quagmire” a large voice echoed and boomed across the distant painted forest. “What? Who’s there?” the man said looking around with a blank expression and listening. “Where am I and who are you?” The man said with his hand above his eyes trying to look into the swirling air and past the hills of colorful painted trees. “Yes. Speaking to me? Im he. He is me. And others as well. Or weren’t they?” The large voice echoed as the man straddled around the tree curious still. “I’m your personal God. The God of madness.. No pies. Wait.. Madness and these are the Islands of Quagmire. The islands are a wonderful place. Except when they’re horrible. Then they’re horribly wonderful!” The man shook and minorly scratched his head puzzled and trying to obtain the amass of new information. “Haha.. Like a sponge you are!” he said as the man cringed from the loud boom of his God’s laughter. “So who am I then?” the man said looking into the sky. “You’re name will be Distinguished Deathbringer.. No.. Jace. Yes, Jace. I annoint you as my mortal hero!” the voice said as a blue fireball fell upon the ground close by him. Another then hit the part of the tree above him. “Stop moving would ya..” the voice boomed as Jace held his arms stretched out in confusion. A blue fireball then fell and enveloped Jace adorning him with yellow silken robes. “Jace” the man said quietly to himself.
“What is this place” Jace said looking in amazement of his surroundings. “Don’t you see.. this place is simply the moving image of eternity. The distinction between past, present and future is simply our internalized, persistent illusion. Space and matter are merely the skeletal shadows of our true spiritual reality. As matter is energy and I know it’s hard to wrap the mind around what I’m saying and it’s also exceedingly difficult to articulate these concepts in words.” the voice boomed clearly as Jace sit on the ground laughing and playfully poking a green and white mushroom that seemed to minorly wiggle when he touched it and completely oblivious to what his Madgod was saying. The Madgod boomed a loud thunderous noise as a lightning bolt hit the tree branch above him. “And what is your name luminous one?” Jace said as he stood up and stared up into the clouds. “I am Blue Sheogorath and you are my hero to bring glory to this place and to Godville!” the madgod boomed. “Doesn’t look like there is much glory to be had or taken” Jace said confused. “and what is Godville?” Jace said again. “You have come into existence to serve the Quagmire that you will soon depart from and the Godville from which you will remain” the voice boomed slightly ominous as Jace remained attentively focused upon a wandering piece of cotton plume. A yellowish lightning bolt struck the tree bark next to him in which Jace was completely oblivious to.

“Where is this Godville that you speak of, luminous one? Jace asked holding what seemed to be a “plume” up to his madgod. “It is on a different plane of existence. One that you will call your home from the time which I will send you there. I have given you the task of rising to the challenge of my personal hero and to occasionally praise me so that the Quagmire won’t fade but grow with your undivided aid." Jace stared at the heavens expressionless.

“Its essential. Simple really. If only it was Essentially simple. But its not.. You will fight with monsters and be immortal and perform the golden quest of spreading the cure of madness across these lands of Godville and there your glory will be had.” the Madgod boomed. “Yes, my lord” Jace said giddy. “I’ve only just been but I feel great!” Jace adds excitedly. “Calm down. you’re making me all itchy!” madgod boomed across the sky. “You must stay within the realm of Quagmire until you have taken to its madness and are ready to leave its plane of existence.” Jace looked up to skies expressionless. “….Which means you can stay with me in this realm until then but from the time of your being your soul is bound to Quagmire and the realm of Godville” stated the Madgod from above as Jace raised one eyebrow. “The more you praise me and this place the more omniscient I and Quagmire will be, ergo.. visa vi.. the more stronger you and I will be” the Madgod boomed again as Jace closed his eyes and hugged the great yellow tree. The trees, rivers and air suddenly came to life around him as if more active and vibrant. “Aaaaah! My little Jace! Ya have a way with understanding things without understanding them.. Ya make a madgod so proud!” he boomed with a choked voice as Jace continued to hug the tree.

[Time in Quagmire felt like eternity as Jace got bored easily and very quickly.
Jace then began to kick random rocks in random directions. After some time Jace looked around and pondered in his mind about what the vast swirling world tasted like as he was suddenly interrupted by Blue Sheogorath. “Wonderful! You seem fulfilled! full of fill! Bursting at the seems!..  Seemless!” Bellowed Blue Sheogorath “Ummmmm..” Jace exclaimed as he looked to the heavens.

“Its time to be off then.. On to it.. Are you sure you’re ready?” Blue Sheogorath stated. “Ready as ill ever be..” Jace said unexcitedly to his madgod. “What kind of new world are we talking about here” Jace said plainly. " You will be in a world where other gods have created other heroes unlike yourself but indeed as you are to be. This is the world of creation as you exist in the mind of a madgod". You will be a part of a hive of many creations and likenesses unlike your own. Only they are different in their purpose- “To spread the cure of madness!” Jace blurts out excitedly. “Indeed! Like a sponnnnge!” Blue Sheogorath booms in the clouds. “And you will be needing these.. or won’t be.. either way” Blue Sheogorath says as he materializes and puts an arm on Jace’s shoulder. Jace turns to find his madgod in a puce and gold jester’s outfit daunting a blueish skin complexion. Jace smiles as he sees him for the first time. Blue Sheogorath hands him a sack with a journal and pen. “What is it?” Jace asks. “This journal is a spiritual and neural link into the realm of Quagmire. Anything you write in this journal will be observable to me. You will be my eyes and ears if I am to help you in Godville” Blue Sheogorath states. “and the pen..” He says as he grabs it and holds it up. “..is just a pen” he states unexcitedly. “One more thing before we waste anymore precious seconds, minutes and hours” He blurts out before Jace has a chance to speak. “The water in Godville is toxic to a mortal such as yourself. You’ll be needing to drink a lot of this to keep your mind on the jagged path”. Blue Sheogorath says as he extends his hand and a frosty mug of yellow liquid appears and hands to Jace. Jace grasped the mug with both hands and began to sip. “Good!?” Blue Sheogorath exclaims as Jace begins to drink more then a little more. Jace finished the mug as his mind began to feel fuzzy but more relaxed and more in tune with his madgod. “That’s more like it” Blue Sheogorath says. “You know, you remind me of myself at a young age. All I cared about was riding narwhales and sleeping in honeycombs and drinking baby seal tears!” Blue Sheogorath exclaims as Jace nods his head inebriated. “But we’ve got our whole lives ahead of us don’t we!” Blue Sheogorath exclaims as he gives Jace a large hug. “I think I’m ready to help the people of Godville now” Jace says with a hazy thought. Blue Sheogorath materializes another frosty beverage and hands it to Jace. “Good off ya be then” Blue Sheogorath states as he stands there crossing his arms. “How do I leave?” asks Jace as he again drinks his beverage. “You can do it all by yourself with my help of course” says Blue Sheogorath. Blue Sheogorath raises a finger and begins to speak. “First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once at the number three, being the third number to be reached, then,..” Jace tunes out as he gulps down the rest of his beer and feels more relaxed and in tune with his madgod. Jace feeling more connected to his madgod, grabs his pen and writes
“[unintelligable]”. Jace begins to fade into a blue aether as he feels himself slowly fading away. “See I knew ya could do it ma little sponge!” Loudly exclaims Blue Sheogorath as Jace fades away from the Quagmire and into the world of Godville.
