“Yes, my Lady?”
“Didn’t I ask you to be my scribe and chronicle the feats of my heroine, Evangelione? ”
“Yes, my Lady, I…”
“Then what are these?”
“They are Evangelione’s Chronicles, I thought…”
“They are written from your point of view and she’s hardly even in them. I think that you have made her a supporting character in her own scriptures. The whole second chapter doesn’t feature her at all! How can you call them Evangelione’s Chronicles ?”
“Of course, almighty Arivelle, I think I can give you what you ask. As I’m unable to follow her on her quests I’ve been collecting her discarded diaries, at least the ones she hasn’t burned…”
”Her diary entries?”
“Yes, my Lady, her diary entries. I can use them to capture her story from her point of view; I wouldn’t need to be in the story at all.”
10:20 Noticed my mirrored helmet was missing, no wait, I had it on backwards. That’s the second time today!
10:22 Found a suspicious mole on my arm. I thought about having a guild doctor look at it, but I think that Giga Byter is going to perform an amputation instead.
”Enough! Paranthelion, if I wanted to publish her diary entries as a scripture, I can copy them myself. I came to you to craft a story, preferably one with Evangelione in it.”
“Oh, so something more like this?”
Weary and bleeding, Evangelione made her way into town. Cradled in her arms, Tigger, her ninja tortoise, laid unmoving, unconscious. Earlier that day he had selflessly thrown himself into harm’s way to protect her and now her only hope to heal his battered body lay in the heavily laden bag of trinkets she had scavenged from the corpses of her fallen foes.
”It’s a little…bleak”
“Bleak?”
”Yes, do you think you could enliven it up a bit? Maybe throw in some jokes.”
Evangelione left the trader’s with an empty sack and heavy wallet. Last time, she had forgotten why she had returned to town and mistakenly spent her earnings on a gold brick. Not this time. This time, she would pay the priests for Tigger’s revival! His sacrifice would not be in vain! Evangelione made it 3 blocks and 2 taverns down the road before she realized she forgot Tigger on the counter at the trader’s. After claiming him from the lost and found, Evangelione, repentantly, took him straight to the priest for healing. It was a miracle!
”She forgot Tigger at the traders? Perhaps we should leave that bit out.”
“She fought a tree for half an hour thinking it was a Nature’s Wraith.”
”And that bit too. Look, I’m not asking for any radical changes; you don’t need to remove yourself completely from the story if it helps you capture her greatest moments, but no more chapters without her, okay?”
“As you wish, Exalted One. As you wish.”
