Hero's Chronicles

This hero was not originally called Mathematician. Rather, his fascination with mathematics was so unique that it led to him being called Mathematician wherever he went. Over time, the name stuck. Mathematician went on to practice and develop his skills while spreading his love for mathematics everywhere.

Indeed, much mathematics practice was needed, if Mathematician’s journal is anything to go by.

08:08: Took a calculated risk while fighting this Acrophobic Dragon… Unfortunately, math isn’t my best subject. Fortunately, athletics is.

Despite Mathematician’s passion for mathematics, his hero background meant that he was not particularly good at it as compared to his fighting skills. The neverending stream of quests to complete and the numerous battles with various monsters and other heroes meant that there was little free time to practice his mathematics skills.

Fortunately, there are benefits to living as a hero, such as having guidance from the god of mathematics, and the occasional help from grateful people, as exemplified by the following incident:

08:57: The mayor’s office rewarded me with a free mathematical analysis lesson for all the great shows I’ve performed in the city square.

With any luck, that and many other similar lessons would propel Mathematician towards being a talented and acclaimed mathematician (and hero).

Recent journal entries, however, suggest otherwise:

09:46: As I continue my efforts to be a better person, my resolutions are: 1. Stop making lists. B. Be more consistent. 7. Learn to count.

It seems that Mathematician still has a long way to go to perfect his mathematical skills while having to fight monsters like all other heroes.

Well, at least he is making progress in the right direction. (hopefully…)

01:10: After lengthy mathematical calculations involving some dice and several beers, I have decided to give up drinking. Onward to glory!
