Hero's Chronicles

Wow! I feel as if a new me has awakened! (I like to encourage myself.)

It was a very nice morning. I could tell all of my stuffed badgers were very happy, which was very nice. And it kept getting better because there was a knock at the door and company is always welcome and nice. Fotherington-tomas came to visit me and said he was my hero and I was his goddess. He told me about questing in my honor. I praised him and said I would take care of most of that for him, since that is the nice thing to do. Plus, I don’t think there are any monsters in Godville. Everyone I have run into so far has been very nice. He must have just had a misunderstanding. So, I set him up with a nice temporary home next to the golden temple he started to build. I told him I would bring back the gold bricks for him so he wouldn’t have to carry them. After all, I have a wagon so I can transport them better. So now that my hero is all nice and tucked in comfy at home, I’ll go and find some of those nice gold bricks.

I was caring for my stuffed badger collection in my little red wagon when along came a Satan Claus.

That Satan Claus is unrolling a red carpet to the entrance of its lair for me.

How nice! He seemed shy, so I said, “Oh, you must want our company for tea!” Satan Claus mostly grunted while he nodded, so the badger family and I followed. Once inside his lair Satan Claus started acting cranky so I reminded him of his manners, in a nice way of course. The Satan Claus started preparing the tea as I arranged Mr. and Mrs. Badger and their 3 nice little badger children in their chairs and cleaned the Satan Claus’ dirty table, since that was the nice thing to do. Satan Claus was snickering as he delivered the tea but as he turned his back to fetch the sugar, I noticed his cup had less tea than my cup so I did the nice thing and switched cups with him. When he returned with the sugar, I thanked him nicely for his lovely hospitality. As we started to enjoy our tea, he was still snickering. It must be a very funny joke he is remembering. Then, all of a sudden, he fell asleep. Poor dear Satan Claus. He must not be feeling very well. I did the nice thing and tucked him into his bed and we all left quietly so he could get some much needed rest. On my way out the door, I noticed a Priceless Gift with a ribbon on it where he had been sitting earlier. How nice! He must have meant that for me. I’ll take it with me!

Mr. and Mrs. Badger seemed tired and how nice for us that we were near Tradeburg, so we went back there to rest for a bit. As we were walking, I noticed the road seemed a little dirty so I did the nice thing and started to sweep the road with Mr Badger.

I guess I’m lucky! Found a treasure chest containing 2,672 gold coins.

The Badger family is very nice, they don’t mind sharing the wagon with a few chests of treasure. Plus, it is the nice thing to do not to leave those chests in the road. Someone might trip on those and hurt themselves!

Here we are… Tradeburg! Nice little town with lots of nice people. I know a nice trader here who can help me trade some stuff for gold coins so I can turn them into gold bricks for my hero. Sure enough, the nice trader gave me 9,257 coins for my Priceless Gift. That’s enough for 3 gold bricks. This nice trader traded another artifact for a song. I smiled, jumped up and down and applauded which made him pause, make a funny little sad face and then he even gave me some coins for my artifact! See how nice he is? Plus, all of my other coins and treasure chests helped me get enough for 2 more gold bricks. Good thing I have my wagon to bring back these 5 gold bricks. Much nicer than having to carry them. It makes me happy that I can be nice to my hero by taking care of this duty so he doesn’t have to.

I felt happy so I made a thousand and one yellow daffodils dance in front of me.

Oh look! Someone left enough coins at the temple construction site to make another brick! See, I told Fotherington-tomas that everyone in Godville is nice. :)
