Narrator/Minions- Words are the same

Scene 1

It was, I remember vividly, the break of the dawn, the gradual brightness that slowly illuminated the sky, where I first created Kind Soul. A touch of yours truly could bloom thousands of flowers, millions of life, yet if need be, destruction and chaos. Hmm, extra thick skin for protection, doubly fast healing system and… An enormous liver for breaking down poison from monsters!( Which purpose was utilised in the wrong way I must say ) And so, after a touch to start her heart beating, she woke up with a jolt.

“You my young creation, shall set forth to 200,000th milestone before your purpose is done!”

“But I need help Great One!”

“You dare seek help from me?”

“Who else could I seek help from but you my lord?!”

“I suppose that’s true…” I muttered and dropped her some armour and gold.

“What’s my name? Who’s my family?”

“Hmm you shall be Kind Soul. And I’m your family if you like. Good morning.” And left her stranded alone in the alley of Godville.

After a few days…

“My lord, I have completed my first quest and was stuck on the 101th milestone, unable to venture out any further. On the other hand, I have gotten a gold brick, use of which I’m unsure of.”

“Ah you’ll soon learn the truth!” I chuckled. “Just as well, you shall build a golden temple with those bricks in my honour!”

“Temple?”

“Yes my heroine! You’ll just need 1000 gold bricks.”

“1000, my Lord?!!”

“It may seem impossible, just like reaching 200,000th milestone. But you’ll soon get the hang of it.”

“Where should I keep those bricks my Lord?”

“Hmm put them on the “For Rent” plot of land there."

As Kind Soul is being a kind soul, she said, “Are you going to pay the owner money?”

“Nah, but I could pay him some bolts with you like!”

And with that, I left her again.

Scene 2

After returning to my base(Sort of like a spacecraft)…

“Minions, I want full lookout on all taverns!”

“Yes sir!”

“Wake me up when you see Kind Soul going in there. I’m off to bed.”

A few hours later…

“Sir! Sir! Red alert!”

“Kind Soul?”

“Affirmative!”

And so, grumpy as I was, I stormed out of my pink bedroom in my pyjamas.

“Send couple of bolts down to her. That’ll teach her.” I yawned.

“Alright sir!” The minions cheered as they aimed a lightning blaster at Kind Soul.

Aiming… Adjusting… Locked… Fire…

“Ouch ouch! My Lord, why are you doing this? I need some booze to calm myself down.”

What??!!

“Prepare for more bolts! Strike her to her senses before she spends it all on beer!”

After some bolts…

“I really need some booze now…”

*Red light flashing around the spaceship and buzzers buzzed, warning of the impending danger if there isn’t Godpower to run it.

Ugh I give up! I’ll spend all my Godpower before I could stop her!

“All units cease fire!” I cried as I sank my fist onto one of the Minion’s head.

“Let her liver suffer then. Oh wait, I have implanted the divine liver on her! Darn it!”

Looks like I have to visit her personally…

After some minutes of teleportation spell…

“Kind Soul, what do you think you’re doing?”

*"Buying booze of course!" *She said innocently.

“You should be saving up for bricks or praying!” I chided her.

“But booze much more fun! That’s what keeping my eagerness to quest and slay monsters!”

“Bricks are fun too! Look at the shininess of those bricks, the glamour of them sparkling in the sun. Don’t they give you a sense of achievement?”

After staring at the moss on the bricks after being left out in the open,

“Unless you could engage a helper to mow the grass and clean up the place, nope!”

She must be in some sort of debate champion in her past life…

“Fine do whatever you like, but just get my temple done soon.” With that, I yet again left her to her own devices, unable to figure out how to deal with her… Yet.

Scene 3

After some time I went to have a conversation with her again,

“Kind Soul, I think you’re ready to head to the Arena and fight some people!”

“What for Great One?”

“Golden bricks!”

“Nah I rather go to the tavern.”

It’s not within her control anyway but I wanted to make sure she did her best…

“There’s also gold to… Buy beer!”

“That’s a good deal. I’m in!”

“Ah it’s good to be simpleminded sometimes…” I thought.

Teleporting to the arena…

“Woah, my Lord, what’s this place?”

“The arena,” I said grimly. “You’re no doubt going to face some awesome players… But just do your best. I’ll take care of the rest.”

“Wow that sounds so heroic… Maybe you should be a hero sometime; take on my quests!”

“Enough of that already. I love being a god. Oh look, that’s your first opponent of your arena life!”

“Ahh I’m scared my Lord! I need the toilet!”

“I’m afraid the match has already begun… Save that for later my heroine.”

After the opponent’s first hit,

“Ow how could he do this to me? He looks like a good first date to me!”

“C’mon it’s you turn already… Strike him before the timer runs out!”

“Killing monsters is one thing, but this is beyond me!”

After she blatantly skips a turn…

“NOOO what have you done?” I crumbled before the spectator’s seat, whining away in agony and frustration.

“I missed a turn to get his number? That’s perfectly understandable in a heroine’s point of view.”

“Look! he strikes you again. Your life is different from the arena life… There’s many opportunities to plan dates, just not right now… His god has definitely trained his hero well; resisting a heroine’s charm.”

“Alright let’s do this!” She pouted.

After some Smashing hits, Kind Soul got struck by lightning.

“What happened?”

“His god happened. Don’t worry, just keep doing whatever ever you’re doing.”

“Alright my lord!”

After some time,

She probably figured as much, “Wow my lord, nice hits!”

“Piece of cake!” I winked at her.

“Oh no, I’m running out of Godpower. I could punish with my 25% or 5 Voice Commands that cost 5% each” I muttered to myself.

“Huh? Btw even gods need to do math? That stinks! I rather be a heroine full time!”

After another turn the hero fell to his knees…

“Omg he got strike twice? Wow that sure is two times as painful…”She nodded.

“Well his god’s punish backfired… Congratulations on your first win! Go reward yourself with some booze…” I chuckled to myself when I thought of the last part.

“Bye Kind Soul! I’ll be watching a good show soon. Better get some coke and pop corns now.” And I disappeared… In a beam of light!

After stealing her loots, an invisible force pushed her to her praying spot… Up above, she could hear the crunching of pop corns and the rumbling of the thunder…

“Why you my lord!” She pointed an accusing finger to the sky.

“Need some manicure?” I asked defiantly.

To be continued(Hopefully)

Arena battles:

Arena tips:

Going to the arena is a big risk; Not only are you unaware of your opponent’s health, personality and charges, your influences and god voices are also dependent upon the Great Random. Therefore, I suggest these strategies: 1) Save up at least 3 charges. 2) Feigning inactiveness by not influencing( At the end, there is a part to show that this strategy does not work every time) 3) Using voice commands.

In a battle, your encouragements/punishes might fail, or  even worse, backfire(Encouragements heal your opponent/punishes damage your hero(in)es), so I suggest:

For good hero(in)es against evil ones, encourage widely. An encourage blocks out the punish and might even increase your health, keeping you in the battle. Your health should be higher than theirs(Best at a difference of 40), so at your turn, use a punish and an attack vc. Hopefully if all goes well(A punish, well followed vc and an attack by your hero(in)es can deal a significant damage), you’ll win the battle if they continued punishing(For fear of risking their personality) In some cases, punishing might be ideal if you want to win the brick. Personalities can be built up again so 1 or 2 punishes is fine.

However, if the opponent start to encourage, I would advise you to look at your health and attacking turn. If your health is high(Should be before you punish), continue punishing. They should stop encouraging unless they want a further drop in their personality. Following this assumption, they would start to punish. However, your health is higher so you would win unless the Great Random is not in your favor.

For evil hero(in)es against good ones, I would say it’s a tough one. If there is a clash of punish and encourages, punishes will be overwritten. However, a good way to counter this is to use heal voice commands(1/5 % gp of a punish):  Drink iodine heal wounds. Eat and restore health! ( To keep yourself in the battle if it works ) or smite voice commands: Kick, strike, punch and kill! Smite evil my hero(ine)! ( To end the battle fast if it works )

For good hero(in)es against good ones/ +evil+ hero(in)es against evil ones, it is actually dependant upon your luck and charges. To illustrate this, if encourages/ punishes keep failing, you’re bound to lose and in the case of +good hero(in)es+ against good ones, the person with more charges normally wins( Wouldn’t say that in the case of +evil+ hero(in)es against evil ones since the battle usually ends fast.

Action-locking

This particular player is very experienced in the arena, whom I shall not say who. She uses voice commands largely, without encourages or punishes mostly throughout. Firstly, I kept punishing( Had 20 charges from the anniversary ), but she uses voice commands instead, heal ones to be specific. Great random was at my side, for her voice commands kept failing(about 6 used and only 2 successful). Therefore, she started to punish as well; she had almost action-locked me. However, I won, spending 5 charges in total, and her only about 2 I guess? The gap was like 50+ hp, which really was close! Imagine what would happen if more of her voice commands work! Action-locking can save gp a lot, but there are big risks involved!

Recounting back to my arena days

Facing payers, it is a good idea to let the battle go, and save them for the next battle.

In the 3 turns before we can influence, I checked on her profile: 8 months old, personality gentle and won 19/11, which made me feel that she was an encourage-based god. In order to counter this, I purposely feigned inactive, in hope that she’ll just encourage once and leave the battle. However, BIG MISTAKE! To my surprise, she actually started punishing, throwing me at a gap of 70hp( it was her turn btw ). And so, I started punishing, but it was too late! We were still at a gap of about 70hp… so I had no choice but to encourage. However, after 2 encourages, I lost, partly due to a successful voice command and punish. In this battle, I hope to tell everyone who reads this: ‘Do not judge a book by its cover’! By assuming, you’re putting yourself at a big risk!

Finally, my heroine wants me to end off with this ‘wise’ words by her: ‘Do not let a single loss affect you from future wins!’

Stay tuned for more of her epic chronicles!
